EDUCATIONAL WORK

Jo and Pie in the studio.JPG

‘This is the most exciting project I have worked on for years. Jo Pollock is an amazing young singer and musician who has set these stories to music and song. Moving, powerful and beautiful – with an Irish lilt. Wonderful to feel that we are reclaiming the territory and that we are bringing music, song and story together for thousands of children and teachers to hear – and then to pass on.’

Pie Corbett - Educational trainer, writer, author and poet

‘Excellent input at the conference on Friday and delivered with great enthusiasm. It gave delegates some fantastic ideas, presented in a friendly and knowledgeable way, The evaluation forms were all extremely positive and a number of colleagues mentioned how much they enjoyed your workshop in particular.’

Redd Music

'Songwriting helps me make sense of life’s journey and is an expression of the highs and lows experienced along the way. But in my music, there will always be hope. My genuine goal is that a chord or lyric can help someone else.’

Redd, a singer/ songwriter in demand has built up an eclectic collection of songs that will no doubt take you on a reflective, philosophical journey.

She records with renowned producer, Ronnie Stone - well known for his production of Mansun, David Gray and The Christians. Together they have created songs which have an astounding mix of contemporary melody with core influences of rock, pop, dance and folk.

At just 17, Redd became recognised for her musical talents, when she captured the attention of politicians and the people of Northern Ireland. In the midst of the troubles, she wrote and performed on BBC 1; a song of peace; a message of hope in a fractured society.
She earned a respectful spot within Ireland’s music scene by performing in pubs, clubs, Fleadhs and Scors, only to then step into a larger, diverse scene in the North of England. However, she didn’t leave behind her Irish roots and influences – performances continued alongside artists such as Michael Flatley and Brian Kennedy. Channel M, the Northwest’s broadcaster proactively celebrating her successes along the way.

Along with her band, Redd has headlined at many prestigious venues such as Liverpool’s Cavern Club; Night and Day; The Trafford Centre; Manchester City Hall and The Hard Rock Café. She has performed live on Sky Sports on numerous occasions for the Australian Rugby team, sharing the stage with the internationally acclaimed singer, Lesley Garrett.

Pre-match entertainment has included the football stadiums of Liverpool; Manchester; Leeds; West Ham and Doncaster. She has also joined the well-known presenter, Sue Perkins for a historical documentary, celebrating the music of the Dinnington Colliery Band. In a performance for Simon Cowell, he described her voice as having 'a unique & breath-taking quality,' one of which is reminiscence of the late 'Dolores O' Riordan.'

Redd continues to have success with numerous tracks, reaching the finals of the UK Songwriting competition on numerous occasions. Her song, Play The Game has had great success in Europe - Italy in particular. She loves to collaborate with other songwriters and creative industries on various projects, particularly in Education. Often a regular in the top 5 of Ethnocloud Global and West European Charts, she slots right in with the diverse and culturally inspired World Music Platform.
